Finally, the Zongo All Stars' debut cd, Calicubano, is finished and in our hands. Our CD release will be at the Live Oak Music Festival this weekend. We will be playing the main stage on Friday at 4pm with a surprise guest, then rocking the late night Hot Licks Stage on Saturday at 1030pm. Years ago our salsa band, Salson, played the same slots and had a blast playing the late night set with Joe Craven sitting in.
Also, congrats to my bandmates in Zongo for our second New Times Readers' Poll win. We were voted best band in the county again for 2014.
In other news, I just was in the studio recording with the jazz faculty at Cuesta for an upcoming Cuesta Jazz CD. There are always lots of laughs with that crew, plus some great music (one featuring two bassists!).
I am looking forward to a busy summer full of music and lots of time with my family. Hope to see you at a show.
